Advertising has infiltrated our personal realities to the point where it is hard to discern between the actual and the bogus. Electronic screens deceive our minds to believe that what is being represented is more than a collection of colored squares and is actually happening; disconnecting our consciousness from the physical and subsuming our mind to the degeneracy of contemporary advertising. This painting is an exploration of the relationship between the hyperactive technological mind state and the desire to be constantly entertained.

Contemporary culture is disconnected from the byproducts of its lifestyle. We are removed from the observation of our effect on the environment, and this removal leads us to assume that there is no consequence for the convenience of utility, but this is false, and is a product of an “out of sight, out of mind” mentality. By linking the physical destruction of unutilized material with the luxury of amenity, the installation denounces the idea of invisible repercussions and challenges the observer’s limits of consumption.
